X12 271 Eligibility Response Reader
EB01 code, EB02 level, EB03 service type, EB04 insurance type, EB05 plan, EB06 period, EB07 amount, EB08 percent, plus AAA errors.
Clinical safety notice: Zero real patient data (PHI/PII) may be entered into this browser utility. Use synthetic test payloads only. Local-first deterministic processing; nothing leaves your browser.
How it works
Every EB segment becomes a row with each coded element decoded from the bundled tables. Checks: EB01 recognised (otherwise an info note); EB07 and EB10 numeric; EB08 numeric and expressed as a decimal fraction (0.20 means 20 percent, so 20 is a warning); co-insurance (A) needs EB08; co-payment (B), deductible (C) and out-of-pocket (G) need EB07; active codes 1 to 5 without a service type (EB03) are a warning. AAA segments are decoded as request rejections: AAA03 reason and AAA04 follow-up action. NM1*IL and NM1*PR identify the subscriber and payer.
Data source and version: ASC X12 270/271 implementation guide 005010X279A1 (EB01 codes 1 to 8, A to D, F, G, I, R, U, V; coverage levels; service types 1, 30, 33, 35, 47, 48, 50, 86, 88, 98, AL, UC, MH; insurance types HM, PR, PS, MA, MB, MC; time periods; AAA reasons 42, 71, 72, 73, 75, 76, 79; follow-up C, N, P, R, W, Y), subset curated by this tool v1.0 (2026-10-25). Codes outside the subset are reported as not bundled, not as invalid; check the current implementation guide.
