X12 277CA Claim Acknowledgment Decoder

STC01 category:status:entity to text per claim (TRN02), with action codes and amounts.

Clinical safety notice: Zero real patient data (PHI/PII) may be entered into this browser utility. Use synthetic test payloads only. Local-first deterministic processing; nothing leaves your browser.

How it works

Each TRN*2 starts a claim (TRN02 is the patient control number echoed from the 837); REF*1K gives the payer claim control number; each STC row is decoded: the category class from its first letter (A acknowledgement, D data reporting, E error, F finalized, P pending, R request for information), the specific text for A0 to A8 and E0 to E4, status codes 19, 20 and 21, entity codes PR, 41, 85, 87, IL and QC, and action codes WQ and U. A category outside the bundled list shows its class only; a status code outside the list is shown as not bundled and a class letter that is not one of the six is flagged as unknown. The status code table is a deliberately small subset because the full list has hundreds of entries.
Data source and version: ASC X12 277CA implementation guide 005010X214 and the Washington Publishing Company claim status category and status code lists (category codes A0 to A8, E0 to E4, status codes 19 to 21), subset curated by this tool v1.0 (2026-10-25). Codes outside the subset are reported as not bundled, not as invalid; check the current implementation guide.
