X12 834 Enrollment Parser
INS loops to members; HD loops to coverages; checks IDs, relationship logic and date order.
Clinical safety notice: Zero real patient data (PHI/PII) may be entered into this browser utility. Use synthetic test payloads only. Local-first deterministic processing; nothing leaves your browser.
How it works
Each INS opens a member: INS01 Y subscriber or N dependent, INS02 relationship, INS03 maintenance type, INS05 benefit status. Following segments attach to that member: REF*0F subscriber number, REF*1L group number, NM1*IL name and ID, DMG date of birth and gender, DTP*356 and 357 eligibility begin and end. HD opens a coverage (HD01 maintenance type, HD03 insurance line, HD04 plan description, HD05 coverage level) with DTP*348 and 349 benefit begin and end. Checks: a subscriber (Y) must have relationship 18 and a dependent must not; REF*0F and NM1*IL are required; DMG is expected and the birth date must be real; every end date must be on or after its begin date; a cancellation (024) with no end date, or an addition (021) with no begin date at member or coverage level, is a warning.
Data source and version: ASC X12 834 implementation guide 005010X220A1 (maintenance type 001, 021, 024, 025, 030; relationship 18, 01, 19, 53, 34; benefit status A, C, S, T; insurance line HLT, DEN, VIS; common coverage levels), subset curated by this tool v1.0 (2026-10-25). Codes outside the subset are reported as not bundled, not as invalid; check the current implementation guide.
