ICD-10-CM GEM Flag Decoder

Decodes the 5-digit GEM flag: approximate, no map, combination, scenario, choice list. This is not an ICD-10 to ICD-11 crosswalk.

Clinical safety notice: Zero real patient data (PHI/PII) may be entered into this browser utility. Use synthetic test payloads only. Local-first deterministic processing; nothing leaves your browser.

How it works

Each line is split on whitespace into ICD source code, target code (or NoDx) and a 5-digit flag. Digit 1 approximate, 2 no map, 3 combination (each 0 or 1); digit 4 is the scenario number and digit 5 the choice-list number (0 to 9). Checks: source and target code shape, flags are 5 digits, no-map equals 1 only with target NoDx and vice versa, combination 1 requires scenario and choice list of at least 1, and combination 0 requires both to be 0. A no-map line without the approximate flag is warned. Lines starting with # are skipped. WHO ICD-11 mappings use a different structure and are not covered.

Deterministic local--first client-side execution; data transmission is zero. Provided as-is without warranty under the 1% value-saved licensing model.
